Hi,

I have got the 6 core nMP and was wondering if anyone can suggest a good "eye candy" demo that I can use to show the real power of the machine and its D500 GPUs? Something that doesn't require expensive software. Is there such thing at all?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you mean by demo the power.

Just run the same tasks you did under your old machine, if they are not faster..... The power is not there.

You could benchmark it, if that makes you feel better . I am not aware of many actual demos though that require that much power, other than benchmarking software.

Encode some files under handbrake under ur old and new machine

Seems like OP mainly wants to show off the size of their wallet, not actually use the MP for doing anything productive.

It's a reasonable question, I think. A lot of people are buying the nMP at least in part for this purpose, not because they need any of the features for work Vs a less powerful machine (not to say everyone is).

Video on five operating systems simultaneously.

Maybe some variation of the following.

Find an iOS program that plays video, launch and play in the Xcode iPhone simulator. Launch and play QuickTime in OS X. Using Parallels, launch media player in Windows 8.1. Using a Remote Desktop connect to a Windows 7 computer, run XP in a virtual machine. Launch two more media players.

Why is it nowadays that someone, like the OP, can come into a forum and ask a simple honest question, and folks have to ask snarky questions, or make disparaging remarks about somebodies usage of an item or their reasons for buying it?

Why do you care what or why they bought what they did? Give them an answer or move on.

Wow.

Well, this is not about me, just want to show the kids how powerful the new computer is. As for myself, I know very well where the performance increases are and why I got it.

I you're looking at games, Trine 2 is an absolutely mind-bendingly beautiful title, for OS X. It's colorful, and everything is lush and organic looking, and you can crank up the textures to crazy-good levels. The MP will definitely be able to run it maxed with 'Extreme' 4x SSAA, which is drop-dead gorgeous.

It's like $5-$10 on the MAS, and it's fun, if you ever get around to playing it

EDIT- saw you have kids, and it supports up to 3-player local co-op.
