What company in ur opinion makes the best LCDs?
Anyone with any good or bad experience with their LCDs?

I know of a couple, LG and Samsung are two of the biggest.

As far as manufactures who buy the LCD panels from LG or Samsung, then I would buy a Dell when compared to the Apple for a widescreen display.

Viewsonic used to be good however they quality has dropped, Sony also makes some decent displays.

Its the LCD panel that one should concern themselves with. :)

Help convince me to get the Apple monitor...

I really want to get the Apple 23" display, especially now after the price drop. However, all it has over the Dell 23" is the Apple design and a FireWire (a feature I don't really need, since I'm connecting to a PowerBook and have all my ports right in front of me anyway), and that just doesn't seem worth it. Below I've list the specs were Apple and Dell have important differences. Resolution is the same on both monitors.

Apple 23" specs:

270 cd/m^2 brightness
400:1 contrast
16 ms response time
DVI / FW400 / USB2.0

Dell 24" specs:

500 cd/m^2 brightness
1000:1 contrast ratio
12 ms response time
DVI / VGA / S-Video / Composite / Component / USB 2.0

Looks like the Dell beats the pants off of the Apple monitor. Who can really defend the Apple monitor outside of the aesthetic department? I really like Apple, and it hurts me to say that I'm probably going to buy a Dell monitor, but Apple.... you leave me no choice, why would you peddle such half-rate crap?
