I want to be able to send text a phone number (iPhone) without having my number shown. I can receive iMessage through my email, but however have to switch back and forth from sending from email and phone number.

What are some good messing apps I can use without having to use my number?

Any suggestions?

I manly use Kik messaging to communicate with my friends.

It lets you know when they read it, when they're typing, stuff like that.

You don't need your phone number (you can choose to pull your contacts to find your friends on kik if they have pulled their contacts) it doesn't show your number if you choose to pull your contacts.

All you need to do is make an account and that's it.

Happy messaging!

It seems that you want to send anonymous text messages? Correct me if I'm wrong. There are plenty of IMs like Line, Kik, WeChat, Path but you have to create accounts with these services (and they often require you to register your phone number) and add the other parties into your contact list.

You can use Skype to send text messages, it'll arrive to the receiver as some random number, you'll have to pay for each text message though.
