good monitor?

ok, so i was waiting on apple to announce new apple displays. guess that's not going to happen for a while.

i just started a new job as a graphic designer for web and print. i'd like to get a good monitor...

any suggestions? i'm still open to an apple display, but they seem like old tech. am i right?

I just got the Wacom 20" widescreen Cintiq (20WSX) and it is pretty awesome.
I have been using Wacom Tablets for years, but this direct input is so much better. I'm now using my 20" Apple Cinema Display as a second monitor.

that looks pretty sweet. don't quite have the budget for it (yet), but wow - cool!

I have also been on the fence regarding the purchase a new display and I think I am going to go ahead with the BenQ FP241W. It has received a lot of good reviews and the price is between $600 and $900 depending on vendor.

The other display I would reccommend is a Lacie, but those will cost you over $1000.

Blue Velvet actually mentioned it in a previous thread of mine, so I'm not sure if she purchased it, but she said she might.

Yes, if you read up on the specs of the monitor and reviews you will note that it is sufficient for design professionals, especially since it has a contrast ratio 1000:1 and a high resolution of 1920x1200.

Just do some research and reading up. It debuted just over a year ago at $1,000+ but the price has come down $200-$300.

I have yet to find a negative review on it, performance wise.
