Good PDA for mac?

I need a new PDA since my Palm Tungsten E2 died after only one year. I really would like to avoid Palm - since it seems like they have been having lots of quality control issues - but it may not be possible.

I would use the PDA with a PC at work and an iMac at home. I mostly need it for scheduling and contacts but I also need it to run a medical program (one that works on mobile PC or Palm). Wifi is not necessary. Bluetooth would be nice, but also not necessary

Any suggestions? Any feedback on the longevity of newer Palms?

ps - I know that someone will post "Wait for the Apple PDA!" So as a pre-emptive strike: I need to buy within the next few weeks.

I'd suggest a Treo, since then you've got your phone and handheld in one - more convenient. The 650's just went on discount because the 700's came out. Or there's the 700w, if you want to avoid the palm OS.

I've got an i500 and live on it.

Well, I guess it depends on if you have a notebook or a desktop... if a notebook, PDA is generally very easy and can be done just about anywhere. Just make sure you have some iKlear or some non-abrasive wipes to clean off excess saliva. Try to restrain your PDA however on crowded buses, subway cars, etc... there's a time and place for PDA.

If you've got a desktop, I'm afraid you're going to need a chiropracter or a phsyical therapist down the road... while equally attractive as a notebook, desktops can be awkard to engage in PDA due to their higher weight and larger footprint. Due restraint in PDA with your desktop in crowded conditions is again appreciated by those not engaged in PDA with their own Mac portables or desktops.

If you use a Palm, you get the benefit of free (reliable) iSync connectivity. If you use a Pocket PC, you have to deal with a third-party app (either The Missing Sync or PocketMac), which I've not had great luck with.

If all you need is basic PDA functionality, Palm's low-end solutions should be ideal.

The treo might not be a bad option - if they are made well. Thanks for the advice on the discount.
