Hi, it's been quite some time since I posted here. But I have a chance to get a MacPro 1,1 with original monitor for $100. I know this is outdated by today's standards but being I used a G5 all the way up to around six months ago I know tweaks and hacks to make everyday Computing bearable and this would be a lot better than that was (compatibility wise). I know my limit is OS X 10.7 Lion but have found ways around that from Reading forms although I don't know if that's allowed to talk about that here or not so I won't get into that. Only thing that is said to be wrong is it's a little loud, so I'm guessing maybe a fan going bad worst case scenario would be a hard drive but I got a spare so not a big deal. It pretty much only would be used for Facebook and web browsing, you guys think it's a ok deal?

Looking at Ebay it seems like a fair deal, assuming everything is working. You are already aware that it is obsolete, so I won't warn about that.

Looks like 6,1 is having "discounts." However, I have a feeling there will be an update.....choice is yours though.

if it comes with a keyboard, that and the monitor are worth at least $40 right there. so yes, for what it is, a good deal. you should plan on putting a new drive in it. an SSD might be overkill from the value perspective. but if that thing has a 10 year old drive in it, not something you want to depend on. and any current 7200 RPM drive will be much faster.

I'd say that's a decent deal for the price incl monitor. You can always pick up a 120 GB SSD for cheap and throw El cap on there. Should be usable for a another 2-3 years, maybe more.

Might be obsolete but it will run El Capitan perfectly - for $100 it's a pretty good deal! Like raymanster said above, add an SSD (and more ram) and you're good to go. Mine has been running non-stop for 10 years now, I upgraded the CPUs earlier this year (was a dual originally) and a SSD, and it's still going strong. This thing is a tank.

Are we running out of rumors in the MacPro section?

;)
