Good time to try & sell my iMac "Core Duo" 2.0, 20"?

This was the first white stand alone iMac with the intel core duo. I've upgraded it to Snow Leopard, upgraded the peripherals to the magic mouse and the aluminum keyboard, and maxed out the ram to 2GB but it's starting to get slow. The computer has been awesome for me. Haven't had any problems with it and works for my needs I suppose, but I feel like this computer is starting to get ancient and is really going to feel that way once Lion comes out this summer. I mean, is 2GB a ram going to be enough for this machine to be viable in the future? Can I even get decent value for the cpu? Wondering what you all think if I should try to sell it or did I miss the window and should just use it for as long as I can.

I know OS X shouldn't need this to keep running smoothly, but how long has it been since you've done a completely fresh install? And how much free HDD space do you have?

I am embarrassed to say that I've probably never done a completely fresh install b/c I'm not sure what that is. I upgraded the OS X to Snow Leopard from Tiger a while back?

My free HD space is 110GB (250gb hd, using 140gb).

Apple may claim Macs don't slow down or need fresh installs but they really do. If you have never done one before then try it and you may be pleasantly surprised at the speed boost.

Check the pages out to pages in ratio. It may be the 2gb ram ceiling is your limitation.

A SSD may help and would speed things up. Plus then you could transition it to your new imac whenever you get one. It would give this computer a nice benefit.
