I`ve seen alot of people having trouble with slow disks in GB (i know of it happening in Logic & ProTools too).
If you haven`t already maxed out your RAM, start with doing that.
Now, Unless you have a real expencive g5, or 17" powerBook, you probably have the 4800RM disk delivered with most g4 and g3s. I have on my g4 iBook. If you spend 140$ on an external FW or USB2.0 drive with 7200RPM`s, this problem is gone forever. After I began using my external disk instead of the internal one, NO MORE slow disk issues.
So if anyone has had any troubble, I really recomend trying this.
