A friend of mine offered me this pc for a trade for my powermac sawtooth:
P4@2.4
512MB ram
DVDR
64mb nvidi gefroce 4 ti

I know this computer is superior but I have a lot of windows horror stories, For god sake I dont even know how to configure my DSL connection on a windows machine, I always mess up and takes me hours to figure it out lol. I am thinking I will use it to play WoW instead of my ibook. Would you go through with this trade if you were me?

I would do the trade. Windows aint all that bad and having both of them is a big plus IMO.

How often do you use the 400Mhz Mac?

This seems like a good PC that can be cheaply upgraded for gaming.

Depending on how much you like your older mac, I think your iBook can satisfy your mac needs.

Edit: For gaming, buy a cheap 128mb ATI card on ebay and you will be good. (maybye a bit more ram but 512 is imho enough for general gaming) Also, the 2.4Ghz P4 is a very good CPU.

After reading the second paragraph I think you just answered your own question. My advice, heck no...macs are just plain better. But I'm slightly biased.

I consider myself a switcher, I'm on a iBook G4, and i've got a 1.8GHz powermac in the mail... But i still have my old 2.0GHz Dell Inspiron laptop, cause when i need a PC for some random thing, of i think some file might have a virus, thats what its for, and if you want to game, either buy a PC, or get an Xbox 360 and get the VGA cable to use it on your computer monitor... Thats my plan :D

I might do that. That PC should be pretty good for gaming with the right video card. I would look into the prices of video cards or look at what video card it does have before rushing into it. Also your current mac needs to be replaced anyways for something newer IMO. Even though it would be best to upgrade with another mac I would say make the trade and get a new mac laptop.
