Mobile OSs Good way to test Lollipop?

I was looking into my past Android use and realized my last device was the first gen Nexus 7, likely not sufficient to say I have Android knowledge. I was wondering if there was a good device, maybe not too expensive, to see how Android has evolved over the past couple of iterations.

How well do they run it?

Can only say from the Moto G 2014 it runs lollipop excellently. In general day to day stuff there was little difference to my much more expensive Moto X 2014. The Moto G felt just as smooth as the X zipping around lollipops GUI. Plus the G actually has a MicroSD supplementing the small 8gb that comes with it - I wish the X had SD. Also stereo speakers which sound good on the G.

It's by far the best low price phone with mid-upper mid range performance you can get. Add stock androids small footprint - memory wise - and you have a very speedy phone (indeed it actually feels nippier than an S5) for $180-199.

Best bang for buck phone wise IMHO if buying new / off contract / unlocked.

It should be here Monday, went with the Moto G.

Edit: checked again, had to cancel order. Finding the 2014 is harder than I thought on Amazon.

It's a nice tablet, more powerful than Nexus 7 but I'd wait till March at this stage as we only have 3 weeks or so to go

It's hopefully going to be worth the wait. I wonder what the new power will bring to the table.

It's hard not to be impressed by Google's efforts in building Android 5.0. It not only introduced a completely new design, but it also managed to squeeze in a boatload of great features that improve the Android experience. Lollipop brings more intuitive notifications, improvements to performance and battery life, clever security features and developer tools for better apps. It's one of the biggest upgrades Android has seen yet, and it's definitely worth making the jump when your device eventually gets it.
