I've got a real problem here. I got iPhone 16 yesterday (traded in my 14 Pro) and now I find myself locked out of my Google account. I can't remember for sure, but I may have logged out of Google before I did the factory reset and traded the phone in. I don't know why I would have done that.

So, I'm locked in a "closed loop" in Account Recovery. I don't have my previous password, I don't have a recovery email or a recovery phone number. I wish I did now! What's worse is, I'm paying monthly for YouTube Premium, so my credit card is attached to the account!

Google obviously has zero tech support other than articles published.

Does anyone have any kind of last ditch effort when it comes to this? I can't even stop the payments because I can't log in 🤦‍♂️.

Please help 😩

One way is to call the bank to stop the payment.

About the password, can you try using any password you know? Most people tend to use same password everywhere. Do you use iCloud backup? If so, it should log you back in. Try answering security questions if you forgot password.

Appreciate the reply! My #1 concern is the fact that my credit card is linked to that account with recurring charges. But it sounds like that’s easily fixed by calling my bank and explaining (?).

I am using Apple Password app (previously Keychain) but for some reason it wasn’t taking my password and I didn’t have any previous ones.

When I try to reset the password, it wants me to go into my GMail app and confirm identify there - except I can’t log into GMail either, obviously, so I’m stuck in this closed loop.

There’s just no way to provide proof that the account is mine if I can’t log in in any way. I have a feeling I’m totally hosed here.

Going to keep messing with it and see if I can come up with something.

Worst case scenario, my main concern will be to get the payments to stop on that account.

The bank should be able to help. Can you open Gmail on a computer? Maybe on desktop the process will be easier instead of using Google apps.

Couple of options here. I would NOT keep trying passwords unless you are sure it's right. That will definitely lock the account.

Well, lesson learned. Always create an account recovery method. No way I'm getting back into this account. Went to my credit union and got a new debit card, so charges for Google services on that account will organically cease next billing.
