Even now, many iOS/iPadOS apps aren't supporting macOS properly especially for popular game apps and yet both Google and Microsoft are working hard to bring Android apps and games to PC or Windows 11.

Apple Silicon Mac still lacks a lot of mobile app supports which is a huge disappointment. Controller emulator is totally useless and it seems many mobile developers aren't willing or interesting to support their mobile apps to Mac for many reasons while Apple is not allowing side loading. Apple Silicon Mac still lacks a lot of good mobile games to play and not many good apps are supporting natively on AS Mac.

At this rate, it just a matter of time before Windows 11 outrun Apple Silicon Mac in terms of mobile app support on PC/Mac.

Do Apple still care about bringing mobile apps to Mac with better optimization and support??

Who cares???? If anyone uses a PC for android apps I am sure that is going to work well. The truth is Android apps don't even run well on Chrome OS and not all are compatible. So I think it is unrealistic to think Apple at this stage would be better than it is. I am actually impressed with the amount of iOS apps I can run on my Mac!

Apple released M1 architecture a year ago and they need time for more people to adopt M series machines. I didn't know Apple was in competition with Microsoft to deliver cross platform functionality?? From my understanding the android apps available on Windows 11 are still rather slim.

Makes more sense on Windows devices since they have touch and pen inputs whereas Macs/Macbooks don't so the experience will suffer.

The point is Apple has a poor support for mobile apps on Mac. Eventually, there will be more mobile games on PC than Mac as MS and Google are working hard to support Mobile apps.

Apple is providing support for games via arcade which is on AppleTV and on its mobile devices.
Mac is not a Mobile Platform that is what iOS and iPadOS is for.

If I want to run mobile games I will run them on my mobile. I don’t make my desktop purchase choice on how well it runs other platforms mobile games.

If you want windows and android then buy windows and android, don’t buy Apple and then complain that it isn’t windows and android

Then what's the point of supporting mobile apps on Mac? Ironic.

shouldn't this go into the correct forum " Alternatives to Mac Hardware"?

Nope, it's about Apple Silicon Mac's mobile app uses. The support is poorer than what PC or Windows 11 is doing right now.

And I thought it was up to the developer to make their apps available for macOS… should Apple force them?

Just thought I'd bring up that there is not a single mention of anything Apple in the thread title, let alone about Apple Silicon Macs. It's in line with so many other clickbait "Apple doesn't do X on Apple Silicon, Apple is doomed"/"Company X does something better than Apple Silicon, Apple is doomed" threads being posted here, and users are responding accordingly. If you disagree with the responses you're seeing, I would suggest first coming up with a more context-appropriate thread title.

And to reiterate what others have brought up: if mobile app usage (vs development) is your primary use case, a Mac (Apple Silicon or otherwise) probably isn't your ideal device. Apple provides the ability to run iOS/iPadOS apps on Apple Silicon if a developer has enabled the ability to do so — and there's a reason it's a developer toggle: most iOS and iPadOS apps haven't been developed with Macs in mind, and the vast majority of non-corporate app developers simply may not have the time or resources to do the required optimization to support a platform their apps were never intended to run on, or to deal with the endless stream of bug reports that would result from allowing users to run their apps on Macs anyway.

It's obviously about Apple and you just dont wanna admit that AS Mac's mobile app support is worse than what Google and MS are doing. It's better to improve rather than not doing it and so far, it is a problem. Is this how you ignore the issue from Apple? Such a shame.

I'm not sure how you interpreted "you shouldn't buy a Mac if you want to use mobile apps on it" as ignoring that Macs don't support mobile apps as well as Google or Microsoft, but as it seems you're inclined to be disagreeable to anyone who responds (even if they're largely agreeing with your point), I'm just going to smile, nod, and move on.

As usual, people miss the point.

  1. It's not up to Apple to make iOS/iPadOS apps available to Apple Silicon Macs. It's up to developers.
  2. Apps/games don't always work automatically so many developers don't think it's worth it (yet) to release a Mac version.
  3. Many games were designed for touch and some games use sensors that are only on iPhones/iPads.
  4. When Apple Silicon increases in market size (projected to sell ~35 million in 2022), then more and more developers will start releasing Mac versions. It's all about market size.
Give it 1 or 2 more years. We'll see a lot more mobile apps and games on macOS.

Fact: Developers own making their iOS apps available for macOS.
Now what exactly is it that Google is providing to make Android apps available on Win11? are they migrating every app?
Google and MS are allowing apps to work on Windows 11 while Mac is not. Clearly, you dont get what I'm saying.

Doesn't justify to not to support mobile apps on Mac. Not only that, Apple's support is very poor. Look how the control emulator performs. If Apple cant provide what developers need to support mobile apps on Mac as they blocked side loading, it's just a waste of time.

You are totally ignoring the fact that Google and MS are doing better on supporting mobile apps for PC. Are you gonna regret that when Windows 11 have better supports than macOS for mobile apps?

Since you are not replying, I guess you are admitting the problem and ran away.
