I am wondering if anyone knows of a build of Chrome OS that I can put on a partition on my MBA?

Thanks

Legally? No.

Besides, it's more of a proof of concept now and would be far from usable.

Awesome thanks - anyone know of a Mac way to get the OS onto the USB thumb?

How is installing chrome os illegal? It's open source software...

Unless it is also publically available at this time ... I thought the only way to get it right now was through torrents of leaked internal pre-alpha builds.

Torrents are not illegal per se and the source code is freely available with a rather permissive license. In other words, it is completely legal.

You can run OS X from a USB drive in a pinch or make a bootable image of your OSX dvd on a USB drive for booting (great for the MBA if you did not get a DVD drive for it).

You'll need a USB drive of sufficient capacity - thats means at least 8gb for a Snow Leopard DVD restore image, and likely at least 16gb for anything else.

Use DiskUtility to format the USB drive (OSX Journaled), then use it again to RESTORE the DVD to the USB drive (you may get a warning that the USB drive may not be bootable but ignore it). Once the RESTORE is complete just boot with the OPTION button heald and the USB drive should appear as one of the boot options, select it and boot and its just like booting from the OSX dvd's

I know the way to get a Snow Leopard bootable USB Thumb - but that method failed with the Chome OS Image - anyone know how to get that USB stick for Chrome setup on a Mac?

Please check your facts before posting.

I had heard the only way to get it right now was a leaked internal build, meaning it wasn't yet publicly available. Apparently, I'm wrong. It happens.

I don't think running it would be worth it at this point though.

That's a rather bold statement if you don't know what the OP is planning on doing with it. Maybe the OP is a developer and wants to get started in developing for Chrome.

Or maybe the OP just wants to see what Chrome is like at this point in time, in fact, I might give it a go just out of interest.
