Microsoft Edge for Apple Silicon (Canary release) is pretty much the same - maybe slightly smoother for me - without all the Google baggage.

I remember someone tweeting about native Chrome performance on M1 Macs with many tabs (hundreds) open. It simply didn't work.
The same thing using Safari worked pretty well.

It's crazy how people are opening 400 tabs with m1.my 2016 macbook pro touch bar crumbles to its knees with 8-10 tabs only
