Is there a way to have any contacts that I add to my phone automaticaly sync with google?

This was an option on my iphone 3G, but is no longer there in iOS5 on my 4S. I can sync it with icloud and it will add to the icloud, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add a contact to the phone and have it upload to google. If I have icloud syncing on, it will upload to icloud only and if I have icloud off, it won't upload anywhere..

Sync your google account as Exchange, and don't sync the contacts with iCloud.

yeah, but that's what i've been doing..

when i add a contact, it appears in the "all contacts" list, but does not appear in the "Google" list that I have synced.. don't know how to automatically add contacts to the google list..
