Google Docs Issue

Has anyone gotten Google Docs editing to work on your iPad. If you simply go to Google Docs, it takes you to the Docs mobile page. But you can override this by touching Desktop at the bottom of the screen. Once the regular Docs screen appears whenever you select a document, it wants to take you to the Docs mobile page which doesn't allow editing. I sure wish I could get this to work. I know it's Google's fault and they probably aren't in any hurry to get it to work because of their differences with Apple. Anyone know of any work arounds?
