Anyone using Google drive for the M1 Mac ?
I’m looking for the traditional functionality in other words the backup and sync component of google drive, where all files are downloaded and staying in sync.

anyone using non official clients with more succes then the official google drive client?

It might help if you'd specifiy what issues you are experiencing with Google Drive on your M1 Mac. Because as far as I'm aware it should work just fine, and there aren't any known incompatibilities with Big Sur or M1 Macs.

I set up my new M1 13" MBP yesterday, and everything went flawless with Google Drive. I have no problem bouncing back and forth between files on it and my 2013 iMac. I had some hiccups with my old 2014 13" MBP and needing to pause and restart the sync to pick up recent changes. The M1 seems be fairing better over its initial 24 hours.

That said, I am running the enterprise version of the software. It sounds like there is a plan to merge the two forks, which should be good because this version is working really well.

Which versions of Google Drive is that and did you have to boot in recovery mode and allow kernel extensions in order to install it?

I have Google Drive version 49.0.8.0 (Apple Silicon) sourced from here: Deploy Google Drive

I did not have to boot into recovery mode, but I did have to provide permission for it to load its system extension.

Thanks so much for the info. However, I couldn't find a separate download for an Apple Silicon version (vs. Intel). Are you sure the file downloaded from there actually installs an Apple Silicon native version (i.e. not running through Rosetta 2)? If I may ask, would you be able to double check in the Activity Monitor that the "Kind" listed for the Google Drive process(es) is indeed "Apple"?

System Report shows that the application is Apple Silicon. Activity Monitor also reports the Kind as Apple.
