I previously used Google Drive on my Mac and just wiped my Mac and downloaded it again and now it seems to be called InstallBackupandSynch and when installed it asked if I want to backup my whole computer? I do not want it to backup my Mac, I only want to use it to share files the way it previously worked. Does it still work this way? Can it be used without it uploading all of my files to Google?

Thanks.

just click no when it asks to backup the whole computer and it'll work as it used to - backing up just the specified folders. Honestly I find Backup and Sync works a heck of a lot better than drive ever did. Less glitchyness overall.

Still wish they would release a 1st-party native linux app though.

I just realized, that Google Drive will be discontinued.
But I find the information about the two successors confusing. How can explain this to me?
What I need is a cloud drive which is all the time fully synchronized with my local drive (because I am often without or with poor reception) and all my partners need to be able to access the data too. Just a normal setup for a team which is collaborating.

So, can we share folders with Backup and Snyc and work just in the same way as with Google Drive?
Which Google Drive features are not available anymore with Backup and Sync??
