That's not for the entire year of 2012.
That's not for Q1, Q2, or Q4.
It's for one quarter....
^^ Better point, and more accurate depiction of the trend.
Apple ends 4th quarter on top in market share for USA, gaining most of that from Android.

That's what...5 phone handset models versus 200+ Android handset configs? Wow.
Guess the American consumer figures the screen size of the iPhone 5 was just about perfect after all.
Apple does pretty darn good for a company that offers essentially one handset/tablet a year with their iOS, meanwhile Google is hellbent on partnering with a myriad of handset/tablet manufacturers just to get their software out there.

Good god, people are still posting this crap survey from KantarWorld? Apple HAS NOT released a single sell through number of iphones, ipad 4's or iPad Mini's since launch weekend. Kantar uses consumer panels and market monitoring as the basis for its research. (We call this fudging the numbers. Notice how the only survey in the rntire world to report these numbers comes from Kantar World?)
I can make up a survey and show Windows phone 8 has 25 percent marketshare in the US and plaster it all over the interwebs, like KantarWorld did. Simply put, it is complete b.s. but people believe what they want to believe. You do realize that the math is impossible for a shift in marketshare like KantarWorld wants you to believe. In order for a shift in magnitude like they suggest to occur in 1 quarter, there would have to be zero sales of Android and about 50 million iphone sales (and that is just in the US. ) See the issue here?
In the end, and as I said earlier, it doesn't matter. This is exactly like comparing Wndows OS to OSX marketshare. Windows will always be on top because the OS is licensed to anyone that wants it, unlike OSX and iOS.

Lets see......
Believe a respected consumer research firm with global presence, or anonymous forum poster?
Tough choice LOL
LOL. Sure. Apparently Kandar Worldpanel is the only research firm in the US, or the entire world for that matter, that has access to Tim Cook and Apples sale figures. Keep believing the hype though. Gonna be fun watching Apple stock plummet another $200 a share when Apple does release sales figures Next month. Wonder how Kandar Worldpanel will be able to explain their figures? Oh, that's right. They're made up. There is no factual sales data.
Quoting this for amusement factor. Lets check your track record in a month.

Who cares
Apple is on top in the USA, but in other parts of the world, Samsung has a bigger market share because you can get a Galaxy S III cellphone frequently at lower prices than an iPhone (remember, much of the world cellphones are sold a "full" price, not the subsidized price we get here in the USA).
While the iPhone 5 has the excellent iOS 6.0.x operating system, the width of the display means in portrait mode, it's almost impossible to read the text in certain apps like Twitter and Facebook.
