Mine gets used for some music I uploaded, weather, listen to pandora from time to time and that's about it.Already pre-ordered one as well. Same boat for me--have an Echo that gets used for nothing other than kitchen timers.
If it interfaced with Sonos it would be a done deal.
I'm thinking about it. If it interfaced with Sonos it would be a done deal.
That would be perfect, if it did that, it would be a done deal for me also.
May well cancel my Amazon Dot preorder being a GPM subscriber https://madeby.google.com/home/
and it integrates with

and maybe SONOS next year?
Interesting. My thermostat just broke this morning and I planned on popping into Lowes and buying a Nest 3 tonight. Might be cool to voice control the climate control, maybe a bit overkill though.
Hi
The Nest 3rd gen is simply awesome - in my top ten best purchases ever.
I highly recommend purchasing through nest.com and ordering the installation and the stand.
• Installation as its gauranteed to work
• Stand so you can move the thermostat to different rooms.
The iOS app is outstanding as is their Nest Protect.
The new Nest out door cam sold out in days on Amazon.
All three show up on the iOS app and like SONOS you can add a bit at a time.

Wow I looked up the Nest stand, pretty cool. So you can actually pop it off your wall and put it on a stand? What stays on the wall? How nice does the wall plate look without the nest?
Hi
Yes the stand IMHO is essential.
Its best not to have the Display (photo in post above) on the wall as you wouldn't be able to move it to a different room.
The Heat Link, which is certainly not unattractive, attaches to the boiler and goes on the wall. The Heat Link 'talks' to the Display via Wi-Fi
I highly recomment not fixing the Display to the wall as being able to plug and unplug the Display in a different room offers far more flexibility and options.
The home away function is excellent. The motion sensor picks up on no motion and switches boiler off this is why is an idea to have the Display where there is 'traffic'. There is also geofencing with iPhone option.
Both my mum and I have Nest in our houses. Both Displays are:
• Not where original thermostat was located ie not hard wire on wall (the Heat Link must be)
• Have been uplugged and moved since the first day of installation - very handy. Hard wired to wall would have been a mistake.
Hope this helps feel free to ask more queries
cheers
Heat Link goes on wall connected to boiler and is the only part of the system that needs to go on the wall-

ps
Hot water can be controlled independently of the radiators
1st and 2nd gen I believe were not able to do this.
99% of central heating systems works with Nest 3rd gen
Thanks, cool stuff. I just picked up a copper one, beautiful, never thought I'd say that about a thermostat. I'm just waiting for my wall to dry as I patched and mudded where the old larger hole was for my old thermostat. Can't wait to get it installed and check it out.
The copper one does look gorgeous. I never knew there were colour choices. We only get stainless steel here but it still looks fantasic.
If you have a gravity fed system the wiring is not included. I can upload a diagram for the correct wiring.
The systems here in the UK are different than the US so I dont want to confuse but they do have a great tech support if you need advise.
I'm sure you'll be impressed do post back.....
OP
Sorry to go a tad off topic
cheers
Wiring was extremely easy, I hung it off the wall last night as the mud dried. Played around with the app. First impressions is that I'm feeling it's WAY overpriced as a Honeywell with wifi is almost 1/3 the price. I know part of it is the home assist feature which tracks your phone and knows if you left, and shuts off to save energy. I'm hesitant about this in practice as from what I understand it only tracks if you're home, or away, which means you will always come home and it will be too cold or too hot. I'll be playing around with this to see how it works in practice.

Well when you put it like that....A Google attached open mic in my home..I think I'm good
That is the main reason I am going to wait it out for some reviews. I don't mind having the mic, if it only records what I am saying after the key words.A Google attached open mic in my home..I think I'm good
