Wow, this guy would know better than anyone else. He's absolutely spot on. Bravo for speaking your mind. Reminds me of Woz.

“iMessage for Mac lives in an alternate dimension in which time has no ordered sequence.”

So utterly true. Continuing conversations between my Air and iPad suck. And this is the best feature of iMessage too.

Is that article talking about Safari for Mac or iPhone? I still think Safari is the best mobile browser I've ever used, whereas OS X Safari was replaced by Chrome a long time ago.

Blame iOS App Store restrictions. Chrome for iOS is basically a slower, skinned version of Safari

Yeah but Chrome on Android is pretty terrible as well--can't blame that on Apple. ;)

----------

Taken directly from the article:

“Google, specifically Android, has been steadily improving its entire platform,” Gibson wrote. “To me, it still doesn’t have the same quality of polish and feel that Apple software does. However, it’s getting harder to argue that point, especially since their web services all tend to Just Work. Features like Google Now and near-instant voice commands are starting to give Android a serious leg up on iOS. Design is coming along as well. Android is still ugly, but it’s much less ugly than it was a few years ago. Google seems to be actively addressing this, and if Apple isn’t worried, they should be.”

Says exactly how I've felt but was just unable to clearly put into words. Thought Mr. Gibson's take was spot on.

I don't think anyone will dispute this. Android does still look very junky and rough. The hardware design is won by Apple but with the last Nexus being amazing in hardware looks, that may just change next year. Apple needs to make changes and quick. Is it just me or does it seem like Tim Cook isn't as passionate about leading Apple places as Steve Jobs was?

Anytime I read an ambiguous & slanderous comment like this, it obvious the author has never used the product that he or she is bashing.

I've used both iOS & Android for years. These two are not the most popular mobile OS's for nothing. It's because each is quite good. A fact that is lost on the inexperienced & narrow minded.

Lots of people will dispute it. Only the single minded are so closed to competition, feeling compelled to bash it.

Not really... I use it exclusively on my S3 because the stock browser is complete junk.

Well, to each his own. I find Chrome terribly laggy and inconsistent with touch response--had the same experience on both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. I actually prefer the stock browser and was pleasantly surprised to find it included with Paranoid Android on my N7 after Google left it off stock JB on the device. I've also used Dolphin and Firefox and found both more responsive than Chrome.

Similar to ReanimationN, I still like using mobile Safari best on my mobile devices.

I'm going to have to try out Firefox and Dolphin. Chrome does lag on picture heavy pages.

Actually like Dolphin quite a bit--very cool use of gestures and voice activated searches. Inability to sync bookmarks with another browser keeps me from using it that much (no desktop version). I use Firefox for any Flash based browsing as it will utilize sideloaded Flash where as the others don't.

I've also read good things about xScope but haven't checked it out yet myself.

Just downloaded FF. Let's see how it works.

I don't have Flash anymore anyways. It's gone from JB :(

Apple will never even get close to Google at web services. Think of a cloud service (so called) that you can't access from web, that you can't access from non-Apple devices and that doesn't even have proper file management. What a joke!

Just the opposite. I think the stock GS3 browser is much smoother and is nicer to use than Chrome on Android.

Also, on Windows I like Chrome, but on any Apple products I prefer Safari, especially after Mountain Lion.

Exactly. Nothing like getting a "new" message come up on my mac that was actually from the day before. Then suddenly it is in sync again. Oops, not for long because it will scramble the messages yet again.

FF is pretty nice actually on my N7, Dolphin is just ok I only use it for the night time mode add on. One thing I horribly miss from my ipad is the iCab browser, I have not found a browser that even comes close to it. I wish he would port it over to android.

Yeah, it's weird, Chrome is amazing for Windows & OS X, yet terrible for Android. I would've thought Google would have poured a lot of resources into their own browser for their own OS.

Like tbayrgs, I've used it a lot. I own a Nexus 7, Chrome's the stock browser.
Boat browser seems to be quite fast. Has anyone tried that?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boatbrowser.free&hl=en
I have, it's much, much better than Chrome.

Just FYI, Chrome got an update today that apparently fixes performance issues.

----------

Generally speaking... Google Maps Navigation went live in Mexico, Google Drive got updated too, the missing December in the People app fix is rolling out...

It's really Google's year. Their only tarnish (and it's a major doozy) is the botched Nexus 4 launch. But once the year is over, I think people will reflect and see it's been one of the best years for Google. The success of the Nexus 7, the popularity of the Nexus 4, the acceptance and recognition of Jelly Bean 4.2, Google Now winning Innovation of the Year. They're just slammin' it.

Even Apple is adopting some of their practices, allowing their workers to experiment on projects like Google does. If that's not an admittance that the competition is innovating faster and with more than they are, I don't know what is. Not to mention the shakeup with Forestall and other members.

And Google might launch a carrier next year? Geez.
