After the last update to Google Maps, the blue bar at the top of the screen doesn't appear any longer when the app is running in the background. Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know if it affects the functionality of Google Maps running in the background?

Still seems to be there while Google Maps is navigating.

So you still see the blue bar when Google Maps is in the background?
Correct, when navigation is being used in Google Maps and I leave the app the blue bar appears at the top of the screen.

Interesting, what version are you using? I am using version 4.18.81882. I see the blue bar on my iPad but my iPhone won't show it.

Looks like the same version. So if you find a location and start navigating to it where Google Maps is giving you directions and then leave the app you don't see the blue bar (and if you come back to the app is it still in navigation mode)?

Correct. I ununstalled the app and now it is working properly. Guess something got goofed up in the last update. Thanks for your help getting this sorted out.

Using the same version (iPad Mini 4). I only see the blue bar when Google Maps is actively accessing Location data. Has been that way for a while. Same functionality on my 6S+.

Update, I think I found the issue. When I go to iPhone settings, privacy, location and set Google Maps to always use my location, the blue bar is not present during navigation. When the setting is "Use while app is open", the blue bar is present.
