Google Maps on the PC/Mac includes the ability to customize any route by dragging and dropping the blue route line to any intermediate point. It's a great method to bypass known areas of bad traffic or to include a point on interest on the way.
Unfortunately this implementation doesn't carry over to the iPhone. Since one can't drag and drop on Google Maps on the iPhone, I've tried to email myself the link to the PC route. Usually the long URL is corrupted in the email path, so I've tried a TinyURL, but no luck.
On each attempt the Google Map on iPhone will begin at the original starting point, but ends at the first intermediate point made by dragging the route line.
An example, from Annapolis, MD to Boston, MA:
Route as initially planned by Google Maps on PC - http://tinyurl.com/2j2won
Route with bypass of RT95 through Baltimore - http://tinyurl.com/2oucoa
