We will see. I posted about it in another thread, and I'm very hopeful now with the biggest platform manfacturer getting fully on board. I wouldn't be surprised if Google approached Samsung for help with RCS, since they've yet to figure it out fully themselves.

If I recall correctly, the only downside to RCS is that it doesn’t offer end to end encryption? Not that the masses will care about that though...

I could be wrong, but I believe it's not encrypted because unlike iMessage, it will require carrier support for whatever reason. SMS is not encrypted.

I personally wouldn't care, as there is third party messenger services for when I'm concerned about complete privacy.

That’s my thought as well, since this is the next step in SMS, it likely doesn’t matter that it’s not end to end encrypted as SMS isn’t encrypted.

Fair enough, it’s not necessarily that my conversations I have require privacy, I just don’t need my conversations to be accessible by my carrier.

I have to agree, seems most people really don't care about encryption, because SMS is still the most widely used format for messaging. So having OEM messaging apps compatible with Google Messaging, is critical for RCS to be standard acoss the board.
