2025 Pixel lineup

Instead of spamming the (2024) 9 series thread, how about a new one for 2025 as more and more rumors and leaks collaborate to get us a beter picture of what's ahead.

Phones
  • Pixel 9a codenamed 'Tegu'
  • Pixel 10 codenamed 'Frankel'
  • Pixel 10 Pro codenamed 'Blazer'
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL codenamed 'Mustang'
  • Pixel 10 Pro Fold codenamed 'Rango'
9a to release around May during Google I/O, series 10 second half of the year.
Google seems to stick with the same lineup/SKUs as in 2024 with a more compact and large Pro.

Tablets
  • 2 hardware codenames: 'Clementine' and 'Kiyomi' (discovered in Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1)
  • 1st Gen Pixel Tablet was internally referred to as Tangorpro.

A tangor is a hybrid citrus fruit, a cross between a tangerine and an orange. The pro affix in the Pixel Tablet's codename is a relic of the device's complicated development history. Clementine and Kiyomi are also references to hybrid citrus fruits. Given the thematic similarities between the names — not just that they're all citrus, but hybrids, much like the tablet × smart display Pixel Tablet — it's not much of a leap to assume the two new codenames refer to unreleased Pixel Tablet hardware.

Tensor SoC
Tensor G5 (2025) TSMC 3nm manufactured - no Samsung Exynos 🥳
Tensor G6 (2026+) TSMC 2nm manufactured 🧂

Getting manufactured by TSMC means top of the line quality + the benefit of no longer having to deal with overheating less perfromant Samsung Exynos.

Desktop mode and multitasking improvements
desktop windowing, drag-and-drop, launching multiple app instances (example browsers), improved taskbar and external monitor support are all in development for a future Android release.

Current rumors for the 9A say it will use the older modem from the 8-series, which is a disappointment.

It will be interesting to see what the move to 3nm in the 10-series does for battery life. 9 series is much better, but there is always room for improvement. The iPhone did not see the benefits that people were hoping for with the shrink to 3nm and they are already rumored to be going to 2nm for iPhone 17 in 2025, but I am unsure if there will be gains in the battery department.

Gigantic Google Pixel 10 and 11 specs-leak with lots of Tensor G5 and G6 details

For your own protection, we do not want to reveal the source of our information at the moment, but we will provide it as soon as we receive the OK. Although this information has not been officially confirmed, it comes from a credible-looking and secret presentation that has found its way into the public domain. We cannot yet guarantee the accuracy of the information.

According to the leak, the Tensor G5 in the Pixel 10 will still be based on the Cortex-X4 from 2023, which makes sense, as Google's original plans were actually to launch its own architecture with the Pixel 9 ( available here on Amazon) this year.

The Tensor G5 apparently has a 1-5-2 cluster architecture with 5 Cortex-A720 cores and 2 Cortex-A520 cores, the clock frequencies of which are not yet known. The octa-core is paired with a dual-core GPU from PowerVR Imagination Technologies, so Google is saying goodbye to the Mali GPUs.

The Tensor G6, on the other hand, will skip an ARM generation if these plans remain and, according to the leaked codenames, will rely on an ARM performance core from next year, presumably named Cortex-X930, and six cores, presumably named Cortex-A730.
