I've noticed that even on download mode my battery drains fast when listening to music. I only listen to music for five minutes and it drops two percent. Is there anyway to fix this or any other music player you could recommend?

Google Play Music draining too much battery on download mode

what device are you using?

Could it be the equaliser on Samsung device. On my Alpha, and previously S5 I had greater drain when I used some of the audio enhancement settings. The one that you can set up to each ear specifically causes more drain the with it off on mine.

I'm using the OnePlus One and using the equalizer to add bass and surround sound. Do you think this is the problem?

Not sure but it's certainly worth disabling them and see if you get same result. Basically a case of try and rule things out if you are getting increased drain, and that's an easy place to start and see if it effects it.

Likewise if the problem is recent - it could be a Google Play Music update is not as efficient as previous version on the OnePlus one.

It's sadly a case of get your Sherlock Holmes cap on and work through possible causes until you finally find the correct one.

I haven't messed with the equalizer but one thing I noticed on my Note 3, and again on the Note 4, is when Cache music during playback was checked, my battery life plummeted. I have since turned off any cache music settings and things seem to be fine since then.
