Google search app from where?

Where has the Google search app come from, that won't let me view 'Disk Utility' in the Spotlight?
I type 'D' and for a millisecond I see Disk Utility but it swaps itself for 'Google Search' which appeared in the Dock as well when I clicked on it. Assume it's a Chrome thing, but when was that added. I've never seen it before and never allowed it to be installed so how do they get past the password permission every time I download anything.

Was in 'Users/Home/Applications'. Is this relevant to why Spotlight won't work properly. I just went back to Sierra from High Sierra and Spotlight indexed finished, but it's not working correctly. Used to just write a 'D' and Disk Utility came up straight away.

Out of interest, what is that Applications folder used for, it's always empty. As opposed to the other main Applications folder that has everything in it.

Although it says 2016 on that grab, it has never appeared before on MBP
And what is AirScanLegacyDiscovery anyway? Not one match for that on Google?

When installing Google Chrome, this app will often find its way to your application folder. Chrome can run apps in the browser (same way a chromebook does), and those apps are in your applications folder.

They usually are located in ~/Applications, not the system App folder.
You can blacklist the folder Chrome apps, in Spotlight preferences.

Thanks. Had Chrome for several years and it’s never shown up until now. That’s why I couldn’t understand why it’s never show up before.

So am wondering why Spotlight won’t show ‘disk utility’ now. Was a handy shortcut previously and now it won’t list it.

Thanks, Interestingly when I reconnected the SSD to the MBP it did that, but it's definitely not right, or doing what it used to do. I have the bookmarks unchecked, which solved the disappearing words when typing that so many have problems with, (still not fixed by Apple) but it is doing something equally infuriating instead and flashes up names and disappears. Similar problem though.

Your screenshot isn't really a screenshot, it's a link that opens this site. (https; //postimg,cc/3Wpx343L***). I removed colons etc so it doesn't link, I hope.

I have tried to keep my new iMac clean from everything I can related to the G empire, and their complete disregard for our privacy, our attempts at not being at their mercy, by actually consciously NOT visiting any of their sites, that we're aware of anyway. They ignore our settings, preferences, Apple's privacy settings, our own basic human rights, you name it. Thanks for sending me to the evil one's lair.
Please, if you're going to send a link, make that known so we can choose to avoid it. Screenshots should be a picture WITHOUT a link.

The image I see above is the screen grab of my computer with a 'Google' logo image on it, From my MacBook. You're not being taken to Google are you?

The pic is a link if you click on it yes, but it's a pic hosting site, not Google. If I assume correctly your meaning of 'G'?

The site it goes to 'Post Images’ to link pics to forums that you're talking about, which I've used forever and a day, Never had a problem with it, Ever.

Apologies if I”m missing something here?

Your post is misleading then, because it says specifically "screenshot," not web link. I am just very particular and cautious. I didn't stay on that link long enough to see who was hosting it, and I assumed it was a Google site, as why would info about Google or your acct. be on a different site? Many. of you embrace Google and their predatory actions, or just as with Facebook, ignore it because, "everyone is on it, it's just easier." Is really easier when they install apps you're unaware of without your consent? That right there is more than enough evidence to tell you, they'll ignore your settings and wished as well as Apple's settings and attempts at saying no to them. I think that's enough reason for me to be concerned about a screenshot that's really a web ink, especially given who it's about, don't you think?

And there is nothing wrong with being cautious I agree. That was why I asked about this in the first place. But this, for posting a harmless picture from a harmless picture hosting site, used largely for forums like these, to link to a grab, for nothing whatsoever than to ask for help, plus it didn't take you to anything Google or otherwise related. If I'm honest I didn't know people had these issues with Google, no, but you wrote the domain 'postimg' so you know it wasn't Google.

And like I said... a 6 months old done and dusted thread.
