Change Search settings in Safari on Mac In Safari on your Mac, choose a search engine. Also choose to see suggestions, speed up searches on a website, and preload top search hits. support.apple.com

Are you using any browser extensions? You could also try running the free version of Malwarebytes to see if you've picked up anything shady.
