Did anyone else notice the Google sign having SSL sign on the Top but only http://www.google.com the European versions don't seem to have it...

What does this mean for the Average Google-er/ Researcher?

Clicking on it doesn't work it either.

It's just their secure search page so your search queries are transmitted securely. Notice in your location bar it has https. You don't click on the logo, it's just a visual reminder you're using their secure search page.

Features: SSL Search
Print

With Google search over SSL, you can have an end-to-end encrypted search solution between your computer and Google. This secured channel helps protect your search terms and your search results pages from being intercepted by a third party. This provides you with a more secure and private search experience.

To use search over SSL, visit https://encrypted.google.com New window icon each time you perform a search. Note that only Google web search is available over SSL, so other search products like Google Images and Google Maps are not currently available over SSL. When you're searching over SSL, these properties may not appear in the left panel.

Up the irons
They've had this for a while. The newest Google feature is revamping their image search. It's now more like Bing. I think it looks terrible but at least I can still see image sizes but having file formats visible and where it's from is info I liked seeing. Having to mouse over every image is terribly inefficient.
