I just looked at the preview for Google TV. It looks like it could be really good. I just bought 3 Apple TVs so hopefully this means lots of competition and updates!!! Once I get live sports I'm cutting the (cable) cord.

Can Google TV stream from what's on your computer? I've looked at the tour on the site and none of it really said anything about streaming files from your computer...

Then again, once Apple TV has apps and such, then the competition between the two is going to get very hot.

Google TV makes sense for android users

Google TV is rumored to be $250-300 unless it's built-in to TV or from Dish. Why would I want this instead of spending $100-150 more for a media PC that I can do much much more? If you own an android device then it may make more sense because of tight integration, but as a iPhone/iPad owner it really doesn't. I would rather buy media PC and hook it up to my TV so that I can rip/encode, stream it to Apple TV, record TV shows, watch free Hulu, watch DVD, and much more. Also unless you have really good TV, surfing websites (reading long post) is not ideal. I wonder how well flash will perform on the Google TV.

The google tv does look promising but I have not seen anything that says it will stream from a hard drive or stream media from your computer. Even though it looks pretty slick, I may pass up on it because 99% of the time when I am watching tv, I have my ipad with me so I can't really justify having the same functionality built into the tv. I will say again that it does look cool as hell though!!!

I like the apps on google TV. I also like the browser with full flash 10.1 support. However, the price will be the factor here. If it costs more than 149 dollars dollars, I will not buy it. I will wait for the price drop. Seriously, does google think they can just give us a hardware and we will pay 299 dollars for this? Most of our box sets already offer full netflix streaming and they can do what google TV can do. It is just that google TV is neat. But, I am not spending that much money. Apple TV costs only 99 dollars and I am pretty certain apple will do apps on apple TV, eventually.
