Google just announced Google TV

http://www.google.com/tv/

I am on board if it does what it claims to do.

I am a BIG Google fan. It was a tough call between the iPhone and Android. I chose the iPhone because of the tight Apple integration.

Now it is ATV vs. Google TV.

This time I don't have to choose. They are so cheap and I have the inputs so I will own both.

I bought two ATV's before launch and love them.

This time since Google TV is new, I will wait a bit. Still I expect to be onboard.

Competition makes things better!

Ah google tv is not cheap...you either have to get it built in to a Sony TV or get the logitech standalone unit that is rumored to be around $300.

$300 vs $99

Sure the GoogleTv can do a lot more out of box...but it is a way more complicated system. Hopefully Sony will integrate GoogleTv into the PS3.

There are apps with GoogleTv but the devKits are not suppose to be released till early 2011.

There is still time for Apple to release a SDK for the AppleTV and allow Apps.
If they do...its all over for GoogleTv...

If it is $300, I will be waiting until the price comes down. That will be when not if as competition will force it to go down.

I love competition and do not feel threaten that I may have made the wrong choice buying ATV. I bought the ATV for tight iTunes integration.

I hope you are right that Apple will step to add more to match Google.

Google TV could be interesting, may end up with one of those at some point, too.

I didn't see anything about it playing music, movies, photos from one's own home network, be it DLNA (ugh) or otherwise. Did I just miss it?
