Google voice "crashes" iPhone 3gs

Oops, unless your iPhone is jailbroke, GV will not work on the iPhone.....
Yes it does... There is a web app that works for everyone else.
No problem, it's kinda junky.
Upon further investigation the problem seems to be that i cannot place a call to or from my own personal google voice number. It seems to be "corrupt" and any "contact" with the number makes the phone very, very angry.
Deleted my contact and did hard reboot and still isn't working....
man was i lucky, i bought GV Mobile the other night before they took it off. Still works great though, Apple must have messed with the website.
I feel like no one is understanding the issue correctly, perhaps it's my fault.
This has nothing to do with jailbreaking, or the app, or even GV specifically (that i know of).
It seems like MY google voice number in particular causes my phone to go haywire. Calling my GV number from the phone sends it straight to the home screen with the green "return to call" banner at the top, even though the call is working.
Receiving a call put it in an endless springboard crash until it times out on the voicemail.
Everything else works completely fine.
I am having this exact same issue, except its not with a google voice number its with a different number (coincidentally, the number of the phone i switched from, it must be getting revenge).
Did you have any issues making a contact for your GV number on your iphone? If you made a contact did it never show up as the contact name when you received/made a call from/to that number? Thats what i experienced. I also got the cycling black screen on receiving and the infinite touch to return to call message when dialing the number.

I had the exact same problem you describe.
The only option I had was to restore as new :/. I didn't lose much with mobileme, but losing the app data was really frustrating. Good luck, let me know if you figure anything out.
Apple was utterly useless, as always with things of importance or complication.
I fixed it using an app called "Erase Contacts" which obviously erases all my contacts. After that i resync'd my contacts and all was fine. I guess it was just a corrupt entry.
