Well this little phone has thrown up more than a few surprises.

http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_alpha_features_corning_gorilla_glass_4-news-10441.php

So it seems the Alpha is using Gorilla Glass 4. Why Samsung aren't using that as a marketing point ? It appears it's bigger brother the Note 4 also uses GG4

Another interesting discovery lays in the fact that it's 12mp camera actually isn't a 12mp camera but is in fact a 16mp sensor (same as on the S5) but Samsung have limited it through Software. So mod/rom developers are working on rectifying that to unleash it.

There is also some talk of the exynos variant actually being 64bit. Looking into that now.

Sorry to revive this thread, but you have to admit this is probably the most underrated phone of 2014.

Do you have a link to the camera discussion?

It definitely was very underrated especially in the way it was perceived by consumers who didn't buy it. They automatically assumed it was a mid range performing device when its far from it.

Samsung haven't helped though by basically killing it.

Discussion was over on XDA Galaxy Alpha section.

I always use a tempered glass screen protector regardless as it is sand & grit that cause the damage - not keys or carving knives...

For whatever reason I cannot convince myself to go for this one and I usually persuade rather easily.

It shows how Samsung have failed to really sell the device on its merits. That being said I could not recommend anyone buying one if they want future support knowing that Samsung have discontinued it...
