I recently traded in my iPad 3 that I purchased in 2012 for an estimated $5.00 Apple gift card - and that was after answering all the questions in the best possible light (no damage to the iPad, everything works, etc. . . . and it was all true). So I was pleasantly surprised today to receive an email that I was getting a $30.00 Apple Gift card for my trade-in ? Not sure if they purposely lowball offers due to people frequently overstating their device's condition (to avoid complaints when the actual estimate is less, even though it was the customer's fault for not being accurate) or what, but I'm not complaining! Yes, I know I probably could've gotten more for it selling it on my own, but I didn't want to deal with that for such an old device. I'm actually surprised to see how much some of these are listed for on eBay, being that it's a 9 year old tablet (of course then you have shipping costs + eBay's commission subtracted from that). Has this happened to anyone else with a trade-in? Normally you only hear stories about being offered lower than estimated, not more.
