Got a cd/dvd syck in your laptop? - easy fix

So i was importing some music to my MBP and the cd got suck, i was pissed, last time that happend i had to send my friends laptop to a workshop for 2 days. So restaring my laptop 3 times and attempting to remove cd failed, sending it to a workshop was the last thing i wanted to do. So it hit me, why no flip the laptop. So i fliped the laptop so that the cd was facing a 120 degree away from me and hit eject *drum rolls* * bit more drum rolls* it worked . I am not sure if it will work in every single case but it worked for me at that time.

A friend of mine got a disk stuck in his MacBook Pro not so long ago, too; his fix was to simply turn off the machine and then turn it back on again (it just spat the disk out).

He'd only had it for about 4 days at the time, so he wasn't impressed at the time

Is there a surefire way of making the disk eject from these machines? No little button to press like on the iMac G3s

I dont think there is a button you can click with you this self loading system, only slot loading drives have them to my knowlage.

When I've had problems getting CD's out, the thing that works every time (unless the CD is physically jammed), is:

Start up in Open Firmware (Apple+Option+O+F at startup), type "eject cd".

The other option if this doesn't work is to power down the laptop, hold the laptop near your ear with one finger holding down the mouse button and the CD drive slot pointing at the floor. Listen for the noise the drive makes when it is trying to eject the CD and at that timehold down the mouse button and jerk the laptop downwards to try and help the CD out of the drive. Make sure you have a firm grip on your laptop so it doesn't end up falling to the floor.

At the time when the CD is being ejected the hard disk is not being accessed. This is also a technique I have witnessed being used by the geniuses at 3 different genius bars for what that is worth.
