I got my 2.2 Ghz MBP yesterday, and its gorgeously amazing. I was really, really worried about getting a dead pixel, so I decided to forgo to 160GB drive upgrade to make my life easier in case I needed to exchange it at an Apple Store.
Thing is though, its absolutely perfect! No lid warp, no keyboard misalingment, no dead pixels, etc.! (Well the trackpad is a tad off, and I thought it would bother me, but it hasn't and I consider it to me part of my Mac
) I took unboxing pictures, but I won't be posting them online or anything. Love the new Mac smell! I think it's enchanced by the fact that I've been used to smelling the "old PC musk" all this time.
I was the guy who postd the thread a week or so ago about convincing my parents to get me a MBP, and I was succesful at negotiations and sacrificed various other things to acheive success! I thought about it though, and I would like to put at least some fo my own money into it so I can consider it my own.
Anyways, I'll be posting lots of stupid newbie questions in the future, so watch out! Here goes:
1. Is there a spell checker that I can use for Safari?
2. Is there a keyboard shortcut for "Get Info" on a file?
2.1 Is there a list somewhere of every single Mac keyboard shortcut?
3. How in the world do I move my iTunes Library over? I've spent hours and ours online and tryin to edit the XML file, etc. to no avail. Anyone want to walk me through this? It should be relatively simple, becuase I have my Library "Kept Organized" on an externa HD that was previously on my Windos box. I have had no success, and a plea goes out to all those on MacRumors! (I'll post over in the iTunes and iPod section as well.)
4. For some reason, Finder is not seeing some of the files on my External HD. Its formatted at FAT32, so I thought it wouldnt be a problem. All I see is the file structure, but no file in the last folder.
I was really worried about the heat of the MBP, it is not a problem at all so far. I can barely even hear the fans so far! (This whole computer is quieter than my WD External HD!) Also, I only have to press the latch buttin in a tiny, tiny bit for my lid to spring open, which is good. I was really worried about having to fumble with the "O so slim" latch button. In the stores' and on my friends' computers, I couldn't use the latch for the life of me. Its perfect on mine, though!
Anyways, I'm really getting that fuzzy Mac feeling of returning to the good ole' days of the nineties when I used Macs. I have this weird feeling that the little Finder smiley guy is really nice and I'd like to be friends with him. Or maybe thats just me sniffing too much of that "new Mac smell."
P.S. I'm posting on my new Mac! Weee!
