I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 for my Mom for $50. It came with 2 batteries and seems to be in great working order other than the fact that it won't charge. It looks like either there is a bunch of lint or something in the USB connector port or it's just completely shot. One or the other. Looks pretty shot to me. I've attached a pic. My questions to you guys are:

1 - What part do I need to fix it?

2 - Phone is locked to AT&T, but can she use it on Straight Talk's AT&T plan?

This will be her first smart phone and first real try at using the internet and I want to help her out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it will work on ST. You can buy a wall adapter and a couple extra batteries to use with it, you can also buy a wireless charging coil to put on it behind the battery cover and use it with a wireless charger

The S4 has a known weakness in the usb - it does break. I don't know what the part is but it is easily replaceable. Have had to get two s4's fixed over last couple of months with this exact problem. Cost over here is $30 including labor so not a big deal. The usb is a plug in/out par. You just unscrew the back to get access and it's easy from there.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know that it's an easy fix.

I figured I would post an update and let you guys know what's up. I ended up realizing that it came with a Samsung external charger, so I ended up not having to buy one.

I have been using it since I found that battery charger and man, I love it.

I have been enjoying it so much that I plan on getting me an S5 soon to replace my aging iPhone 4. I never in a million years expected that to happen.

Thanks again to everyone.
