Got a new Macbook Pro!!

hey guys!!

After stalling for awhile wondering if i shold get the macbook or not and if i should wait for santa rosa or nt. i jsut said forget and the current macbook is good enough for me so i bought it!!

its the 2.16ghz one!! but i do have a few questions

1.) I have an esternal mouse a Logitech MX518 and for some reason the back and forwad buttons on the mouse wont wake the pages in safari (not sure about firefox as i have not d/led i yet) go back or forward

2.) after about like 5 minz of no activity the labtop gets dim, anyway to change that?

3.) how do I install anything? when i d/l somethng i get like a .dmg and like a virtual dirve thing what do i do?

thats all i can think of for now im loving my new mackbok pro, and and u can see im pretty new t the mac ox!
 
The screen dimming I think can be changed in system preferences/energy saver. for your mouse look in the Keyboard & Mouse panel of system preferences.
 
Congrats on the beautiful machine, but be sure not to let Multi know that you got it. He will rake you over the coals for not waiting and assert that your life will never be the same having missed Santa Rosa.

FWIW, you are right. Your machine rocks.
 
With the .dmg file:
Double click to "run/open" it. In Finder there should be a new drive showing. (under macintosh hd) Click on that and either run the installer or drag and drop the application to the applications folder. (different programs do it either way)

The screen dimming can be messed with in System Preferences -> Energy Saver, here's a screenshot of my settings on my MacBook.

ahh thanks amacgenius. And im not no serous gamer or anything s santa rosa woudn't be that much better for me, yes it would be nice to have but my machine is perfectly fine so:p

I think i understand the dmg thing.

when i clck on the dmg thing a box pops up showing like firefox and 2 other icons in a small box...? i dunno how to print screen on a mac :S. so i just drag the virtual con to my app folder and thats it or?? sry im still confused

Drag the icon that pops up when the DMG unloads to your Applications folder, and then all the information is copied over. I had the same thing happen to me when I first got my MAC. I ended up downloading Firefox like 3 times because I deleted the information without adding it to Applications.

As for print screen: :apple: + Shift + 3

I've got 2 more questions.

how do i burn .iso or .bins files etc to a dvd or cd??

and also how do i burn a dvd to my HDD and then burn it back to a black DVD?

and

there are 3 battery options we;ll 4 if u count custom

is the only difference between the battery options when the computer/display goes to sleep or do u actually get better pefeocmace under the performance tab then u would under the better battery tab?
