I think you will enjoy the N7. It is a nice little tablet.

I am playing with mine and it is a major improvement over the other previous Android tablets that I had in the past.

Please provide us your input.

I have mine ordered through Google Play UK.

I haven't heard anything from them since Friday (10th August) to say they have received my order.

Does anyone have experience ordering with them in the UK? I can't even cancel my order now.

Quite honestly, I found myself intrigued enough by the Nexus 7 to consider getting one.

My thought was to get it just to learn enough to put 'Android' on my resume, see what any of the hype is about from my friends and because it's cheap & small enough to use as a toy...a "dirty slate" so to speak just to play with. And to finangle Flash enough to browse the couple of sites left that I have any interest in. But most mobile devices have eliminated the dying-breed Flash, so it's only a matter of time it will be rendered useless anyways.

But knowing that Apple stuff just works awesome, seamlessly together, I'm holding out at least for the September announcements to see what Apple releases (ie, if I really feel a smaller tablet is right for me, then the iPad Mini may well fit that bill).

Seems to me, people just like Android either because they wanted to keep their phone carrier or they want to get overly techy with it...to the point where they should just be using a real computer for that type of stuff.... much as Jessica & Sensamic wants to do listed in this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1422654/

Plus I just feel dirty buying something that contributes to the Google privacy tentacles that flow through our personal data exchanges. I just can't bring myself to touch Android, as slightly intrigued as I am by it.

I'm a techy, and should be an Android-type kind of person; but Apple really seems best at most every given aspect, and that's what mainstream people want and what ultimately succeeds.

I picked mine up a few days ago and I am enamored by it. My first Apple product was an iPod Touch (4th gen) when it was released. I liked it enough to get an iPhone 4s a few weeks after release. The iPhone was my first smart phone, so I was in tech heaven after years of dumb phones.

It didn't take me long to start hating the way Apple does things. My biggest pet peeve became the way iOS handles multitasking. I do a lot of things from my phone. Remote desktop, Skype, internet browsing, etc. On my desktop, I'm the kind of guy who opens ten tabs at once before reading them individually. I like to do a lot of things at once, and this is why iOS makes me want to pull my hair out. Let's say I'm reading MacRumors on my iPhone, and I've got lots of tabs open. I decide to open what I know to be a media-heavy webpage with lots of loading, but I also want to do some things in another app.

I cannot go to the other app without stopping the page from loading in the browser, so I'm forced to sit and watch every full page load/display every single time. "Welcome back to the app, now you can resume waiting!" Maddening.

Another reason I love the Nexus either has to do with the devs, or the way each OS operates. I cannot initiate or receive file transfers in Skype on my iPhone. However, my N7 was not only able to receive the file, but I was able to do ten other things while still receiving the file through Skype. I cannot do this on my iPhone.

Voice search is also a huge bullet point for me. I love it so much more than Siri. Android didn't even register on my radar until ICS, but Jelly Bean may have just converted me. It just feels more naturally inclined toward how I already like to do things.

so, what are you views on the nexus 7 then?
is the 7" right for some of your needs?

I'm also a techy by day... plus i have no interest in customizing and "hacking" my devices ... been there with JB iOS anyway.. so just want my devices to work :)

I like the apple ecosystem and yes, i probably have much invested in apps etc.. to make a switch ..

Granted i could use the Nexus 7 as a play around device with some free apps etc.. but I'd rather wait a few weeks anyway to see what gets announced... more interested inthe display that may come to the mini... having being spoilt by the retina on the current iPad (3), it needs to best the nexus 7 in the least for me to consider i guess.

It's a cheap, decent-enough looking device. As for the rest you guys tell me, as I had previously mentioned:

I bought a Nexus 7, I wanted another tablet since selling my iPad, something smaller. So instead of waiting on the iPad Mini rumor, I decided to go for the Nexus, I'd been toying with the idea of playing with Android for a little while now. But couldn't notice anything but lag in Android 2.x devices, especially with Manufacturer skins pasted on top. I also thought they looked too cartoony, all that changed when I saw Ice Cream Sandwich, I found myself thinking

"That's a version of Android I can call good-looking", however I still noticed a bit of lag, I stayed with iPhone a few more years until finally jumping ship to Windows Phone 7, I stayed happy until I was on a training course, a guy on there with me had a Galaxy Nexus phone, and it seemed great, great sized screen, large battery (he had the extended) and he showed me a lot of what Android could do. Then he recieved the Jelly Bean update and my lord I fell in love with Android.

I finally bought The Nexus as a "safe bet", something to play with without risking my important details like a phone. After playing with it for a few weeks, I can safely say I would happily switch to an Android phone, however I'd never use one with a manufacturer skin, so I'd wait for the next Nexus, but I also want to wait to see what wonder Windows Phone 8 will bring.

And heres one thing that recently made me laugh, whilst attempting to carry too many things, I discovered that the Nexus 7 fits easily into my Jeans pocket....
