Got a Samsung Galaxy S4

WOW!! Talk about out of touch. Man I feel like a fish out of water. I keep trying to do iOS things. It's a little overwhelming honestly.

I have it just out of the box, no launchers yet, though did buy Nova Prime and played with it for a few mins but figured I should play with it stock for a bit and get the hang if. Do have to admit one of the nice things about the iPhone was no bloatware. This thing is loaded with junk. Hide a lot of it for now.

Overall I really like it, really hate it and really am confused hahaha. But I felt the same way going from my Blackberries and Treo's to the iPhone. Everything is so different and new so figure it will take a few solid days to start getting use to it without looking like a moron.

Kii keyboard is my go to right now and the swipe thing is CRAZY to get a hang of. Maybe I'm just old now and really just, well old haha. Anyone know of a way to get rid of the globe (the thing that switches keyboards) in Kii? I keep hitting it and it's jumping back to the stock keyboard and I have to go back to settings and set up kii as a default. It's driving me nuts because I'm typing/swiping like a blind man with the new layout and size coming from the iPhone.

I have the Note 2 and I loved and welcomed the change. Honestly, after you get used to what Android is, it'll be hard to go back to iOS. I'm hoping that iOS 7 is a welcome change but still seems to be way behind Android.

You did the right thing in DLing Nova, it's great! you might wanna try to Swiftkey and Swype keyboard.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, root it and install a ROM; you won't regret it.

Took me 3-4 days of playing with it and reading forums to adjust from iOS. I'm over the learning curve now, finally. There's just so many options. I'm now using Nova as a launcher but haven't bought Prime yet. I haven't bought any paid apps yet as I'm still evaluating and luckily I have 7-day free trials on a few of them.

I'm going to miss the following apps:

VSCOCam
Day One
1Password (android's version is a reader, but I'm starting to use Dashlane)
Mailbox
iMessage
Find My iPhone

Luckily, I'm keeping my iPad so the apps are still avail to me.

I plan on to Root & ROM once Cyanogenmod has a stable release for my AT&T version.

I'm using CleanRom which has a version for the S4. It's a stock ROM with great battery life.

Truthfully, once you realize what you can do with Android like file management, it's hard to go back to a closed OS.

However, I do miss iMessage but no biggie.

It's no different than switching from Windows to a Mac. If approached with a willingness to learn it, the experience is fun. Trial and error learning isn't the best since there's many features and time saving tricks you miss.

I'm extremely happy with my S4. Between it's spacious useful 5" display and the SwiftKey keyboard I installed, it's so much faster than my iPhone 5 for messages emails and Web viewing, it's brilliant.

Good point, it's so nice to have full functionality like a computer. This truly sets Android apart from the iPhones limited use.

A good place to start is the help app (icon is a question mark). It goes through a bunch of the features like smart screen, motion controls, air view, air gesture etc and even simple stuff like changing wallpaper, notifications and things that one might overlook because of its simplicity. If you have any questions feel free to ask

Quick tip - if you drag down the notification bar with 2 fingers, it will show all your quick setting toggles.

Swiftkey, Swype, and Google Keyboard are all excellent options. I like to switch between Swype and Swiftkey.

Quick question. I have been sending and getting texts from everyone and things seem great!!! I tried a group message to my two brothers (who are on iPhones) and they both got it, they replied and I haven't got the message. We tried a couple times and I'm not getting them at all. I know it's prob a iMessage thing but is there a way I can still get my group messages?

ah, group messaging is tricky. I'm on 4.1.2 so I had to go through few hurdles to get mines working correctly.

With that said, you should be on 4.2 JB so, group messaging should be native. Perhaps you need to unregistered the number with Apple..? I forgot what I did to get it working--which is no help, sorry

PS- XDA website is an Android users best friend.

For those on 4.1.2 and on stock rom, try Textra, it works great!

I went into my Apple account and un-registered my previous Iphones. I then went to my remaining apple devices and when an Imessage came in( like on my MBP ), in the upper left under Preferences, and Accounts, I de-selected Imessage. Then I started getting Imessages on my Galaxy S4 from Iphone users. Whatsapp is a cross platform message app that is very good.

Tried the Goodle keyboard and it didn't matter (oddly I did better with the stock S4 keyboard).

Ended up giving the S4 bak in lieu of my HTC One. The pathetic speaker on the S4 is a joke. Gaming is so much more enjoyable on the One with the front speakers! Miss the camera on the S4 though. Guess you can't have it all, LOL.

I sent the S4 packing as well in lieu of the One I was trying at the same time.

Speakers, space, look of the device, the amoled screen all played a factor amongst other things as well.

I swapped my i5 for an S4 a few days ago, no regrets so far, loving the S4. Was a bit uneasy after owning an S2 and not being impressed with it at all (build quality, app quality and availability) This have changed greatly since I had the S2. The apps I mainly used on the iPhone are now available on Android so I'm not really missing anything there this time around.
I have taken a few pics and the camera is quite impressive for a phone camera.
Was considering the ONE but after reading about build quality issues with gaps and overlapping, and not seeing one decent display model anywhere (all had defects as mentioned, nothing to do with being handled). I would have liked the ONE but chose the S4 in the end.
Next step is look into ROM's and possibly root the phone (did it all with the S2so nothing new). I did switch to nova prime launcher, much better than stock. Just need to stop/remove a bunch of factory apps that are not needed and are only slowing the phone down/chewing the battery unnecessarily.
I still have my iPad for the iOS experience should I miss it, but I'm not thinking I will. I'll wait and see what next years iPhone and OS have to offer, I may be back, I may not. I did play with the iOS7 betas on my i5, it's nice, but I not enough to keep me switching for something different.

I think I want the S4. I'm SO over my iPhone 4 and in desperate need of an upgrade. Not really interested in the iPhone 5/S, but have been waiting just in case Apple surprises everyone.

I just want a larger screen. And I'll switch platforms for it. But I'm concerned about iMessage lol

There's a thing out there called airdroid which is pretty much find my android. Also does other neat things.
