Got a superb deal on 20" iMac today.

My Father-in-Law works for one of the large UK banks and from time to time he gets offers on Apple products.

Tonight, through his work, I ordered a 20" 2.4GHz iMac for just £612.47.

I don't care what happens in the "forthcoming" update, £612 is a phenominal price and one I could not pass up for a new system, especially as the same system as a Refurb is more expensive at £645.00.

Not ages, but I'd been swithering between paying £782 for a new iMac or hold off for a refurb at £645, but I could not believe my luck when my Father-in-Law told me of the offer I mentioned.

On an interesting side note, the brochure with four Apple products listed on offer (iPod Nano, iPod touch, white Macbook, and 20" iMac) showed pictures of all the machines and also listed their spec, respective RRP (ie: £782 for the iMac), and your saving.

Everything added up with the iMac, until the order page ... where it asked to put in the quantity for the '20" iMac 2.4GHz White' ... yes, that's right it said "white".

I thought it over for a second before confirming the order because what I don't want is some 18 month old Core 2 Duo white iMac in 20" to go with my white 17"!

However, the fact that the brochure showed the Alu & Glass, had identical specs to the Apple Store 20" entry level model, and the prices matched I think it's safe to say it's just a misprint on the part of the company website ... perhaps their people looked at it and thought, "Um ... silver and black? Na, just put it down as white".



Edit: Just done some more digging around and the orders are handled by and sent out directly from Apple, complete with tracking number that is emailed to you, etc. Puts the mind at ease about them sending me a "white" iMac.

I to ordered a 20 inch imac 2.4 i couldnt wait any longer lol. I just got finished trying to install 4GB of Ram but to no avail it didnt work im going to send the ram back and try another company. Bad thing is it was Crucial supposly the best of the best go figure.

This may sound stupid but did you properly seat the ram all the way in? I know I didn't when i first upgraded to 4GB and when I first tried to turn on the machine, all i got was the little light on my lid latch blinking. so I took it apart and re-installed the ram then it worked.

Crucial are the best, you've either got faulty RAM chips or you've not inserted the chips fully or installed them properly ... which I think it the likely scenario.
