Hmm... my parents came upon a old stash of family photos that I eventually got tasked to scan, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a mac compatible scanner than can handle the job?

I used to have this HP scanner that has a photo input tray and does the job fairl well apart from it jamming quite often, is there something that is like that but works better?

Are they all smaller (3x5 or 4x6) prints or do you have some larger prints and/or negatives or slides in the mix?

I've been using the canoscan 8400F from Canon for doing the same. You can spend more and get better but I've found it to be doing the job for me. It also will handle 35mm slides in case that's useful for you

Canon is a great brand of scanners, but I find it leans more towards the reds so my negatives would come out a bit red. I like the Epson 3200 nowadays, but the 2400 (older model) is cheaper and still a very quality scanner.

I second the canon 8400F. Check Amazon for pricing. Does multiple slides in one pass and keeps them as seperate JPG files. Fast, four slides at a time. And excellent quality scans too. Look no further.

If you go to tha Apple store, there is a scanner there called the Canon Canoscan LiDE 60. It's really great, and the software couldn't be easier to use either (Although, you have to scan the image, and in order to save it, you have to close the app, but you can scan multiple photos and then close and save em all at once. so that is ok i guess). And the scanner has really great photo quality, i have scanned some written papers, some magazine articles, and some photos, and it's superb, just make sure you have ur settings right. It is Windows and Mac compatible (Haven't used it on my windows machine yet). They should have this at the apple store, it's a scanner, no extra crap like a printer and all that, and it's silver and black. If you are going to get anything for your value (80bucks) then get this machine.
