Just got this W3265M 24 core, bought from China and as a production/retail chip, not QS.

Any idea what those markings in Chinese in blue mean on the bottom of the chip? It should be a retail version, but I’m not sure what they mean.

edit: figured it out, it’s the name of the company from the seller I got it from.

‘’excited to upgrade my 8 core to 24!

Please keep us updated on the progress. Which company sold it to you? Price and link?

Success! Upgrade took about 30 minutes or so, was mostly easy - did it with the system vertical, then when time to put in the CPU, put it flat on its back, this was the only time it required more care since the cpu has to drop a bit into the socket, but went well.

Overall very easy install, only 1 tricky part really (cpu into socket), otherwise very straightforward. System booted right up immediately, nothing else needed to be done and it was recognized in Mac OS right away without any issues or glitches, and running benchmarks fine so far.

So far chip is working amazingly - Geekbench 5 has it faster or equal than the 28 core with score of over 19,200!

Max frequency around 4.4, max temps so far for core max around 65-67c or so.

Definitely worth the upgrade over the 8 core for the price of doing it yourself, the 24 core seems to be the best price to performance on the used market, around 1600-1800 for a retail chip depending on where - even the 12 core and 16 core are already over 1000, so makes sense to bump up a few hundred to get the 24 core. (Normally from apple the 16 core seems to be priced the best or the 12 core, but diy the 24 core imo is best)

Congratulations! Can you provide the seller's link and give us an idea of how long it took to ship to you (assuming your in NA).
