---got an uptade and it won't let me activate

i down loaded an update from itunes (the old one not the 8.2) and i've tried to activate the phone on the new itunes and because i had a passcode on the phone it tells me to unlock it but it's only coming up with the slide for emergency calls and the attched cord to itunes picture...
i need my phone please help

The iPhone OS 3.0 is only compatible iTunes 8.2 or higher. Re-download the update on the newer iTunes and try again.
