Just got a new iMac and am looking forward to learning to use the functions. It has been several years since I used one and this one will be on my network that has another computer with Win 7 on it. Just hoping they will get along with each other. Had a small issue with the printer which is running thru my router, but got it going.

Thanks again for the many helpers here on MacRumors. It makes a difference having the people who use Apple and know the answers instead of calling the store and talking as it is sometimes with the new employee who will tell you anything that get him off the phone and to the next call. Some are OK, but I seem to attract the ones who just say what ever comes off their heads. Like yesterday when I call to see if they sold Ethernet cables to connect with my network. The person said no we only carry things for the apple systems, you will need to shop at Best Buy or Radio Shack to get that. However when I showed up to buy my new iMac they did have the Ethernet cables.

I know I will be looking for answers here in the forum and hope not to upset the members with me new-B-questions.

The person probably thought that everyone connects wirelessly!

Congratulations. I'm sure you will enjoy your iMac for many years to come.

Where did Freddy K go?

Wow...there must be someone keeping this forum clean. When I looked a while back today somebody called Freddy K was telling me I flushed my $500 bucks down the drain for not waiting until the new iMac arrived. I thought that was a bid bold......it's just money and I wanted it now. You all know how that is...I am happy and have something to experiment with today...not next winter or what ever.
Cheers

Well, the new iMacs are thought to be released within the next 2-4 weeks, not winter.

I said next winter or what ever....I just wanted it now. I don't think anybody posting here knows when Apple will do things for sure. They want to keep the thrill of surprise in the air for their followers. The store I got my iMac from had a salesman who said they have no idea that there will be a new iMac coming soon, but that a new OS Lion will be coming this fall. So I have my new/outdated or what ever people chose to call it.

Wow yeah. I replied to his comment basically saying that this purchase was your purchase, and this machine could have been a lot better than what you already had.

I also posted a link for you to show you some Mac shortcuts. I'll post it again, hopefully my post does not get deleted this time.

Thanks for your help. I suppose things are being looked at and when someone post off base stuff and are poking fun it gets removed. That is OK with me.........there is enough back bitting things on forums these days, it is not needed here at all.

Fair enough, but I think it's curious to start with 'winter', an indication of you believing the iMac refresh will occur at a much later date than here is anticipated.

Your purchase is your own and if you're happy, good for you, but I'm reluctant with framing the situation to your liking without taking the rumors and other arguments into consideration.

I am not trying to frame my post any certain way. Just saying I got one, and do not know or care when the new/updated things come along. It could very well not even happen this year, we will just have to observe and know that if someone tells us there it is, at least go and look for yourself. People have many opinions but sometimes they are only that. I did not expect to get into a discussion of this type over just stating I got an iMac. But I have noticed while looking at this forum that some member (not all) seem to be set on picking out the smallest portions of our posts and becoming concerned over what word should be used before another word or complaining about even punctuations etc. Boy life is weird now days.

I won't nitpick

I bought a 27" iMac refurb two weeks ago to replace a crashed Dell. From one happy iMac owner to another, ENJOY!

It sure is odd that people care about the way you frame things. I don't care that you got an iMac, nor that you said you got one. The only thing I find curious is that you seem to downplay the value of rumors, as well as mentioned winter for a possible next refresh date. That just screams self-rationalization to me, and I'm not a fan of that.

If you don't want people to nitpick what you say, don't say wrong/superfluous things.

And yes, spelling and grammar is important, too.

Unreal!

Why are you giving the OP a hard time? He just wanted to share his excitement about getting a new iMac and YOU had to start with your whiny nonsense about that all important (TO YOU) refresh nonsense. Get a life!

You sure got a case of the “I don’t care blues”. You know what, I don’t care that you don’t care either. And about rumors...they are not facts, just rumors. If this forum was made up of only posters who were out to pick on every little thing they read just trying to belittle what was said, it would not survive. Thanks to the ones who know how to be kind and friendly. They are the reason I come here.

The updates to the iMac aren't nearly as needs as they were for the MBP 13'' or as they are needed for the Mac Mini, MacBook or MacBook Air. They still have C2D, your iMac has an iX, it just isn't Sandy Bridge, which isn't a huge issue.

Congrats on the new iMac, I'm sure you'll love it.

I am giving him a hard time by criticizing the things he said? Grow up.

And yes it is important (FOR ME), important enough for me to spend 2 minutes writing a post. No need to get offensive towards me just for me expecting some reasonableness on the part of the OP.

Rumors are not facts, and what you said was not even based on rumors. So where does that put you?

And for crying out loud, why is it so hard to simply admit you said something that is unreasonable instead of attacking me for pointing it out. It's really pathetic you think people are not even allowed to address these kind of things.

I've said enough on the matter. Have fun with your iMac.
