coming home from work i popped into the MacStore Regent street & saw a the new Black MacBook. Played about with one on show & just bought one and maxed out the credit card.
First off, unpacking the box; OMG the PoweBrick is sooo small. slightly bigger then the ipod power brick.. (to my knowlage the MBP's power brick is huge!?) The thing is sexy too and just as powerfull as my intel imac..
lol. The same remote works on both imac and macbook.

Will write a better report later..

very cool, I am most interested in how scratchable do you think it is? I have my PowerBook, for 2 years, not a single scratch, does it seem the MacBook is that way? or is it as sensitive as a black iPod Nano...thanks, and congrats

If you have two front row enabled macs in the same room, does hitting the buttons make a result on both machines? Wouldn't that get annoying?

The remote is infrared, so it's line of sight. Unless you had both computers right next to each other, I'd assume this wouldn't be a problem.

I have a few questions for you kksolano (or anyone that can answer) about the MacBook. I am considering buying one tonight or tomorrow, but have a few questions first.

1) How is performance when playing games (how do the integrated graphics perform)?

2) Any problems similar to that of the MBP (overheating, noise, uneven LCD, etc...)?

3) Does the RAM have to be installed in pairs (e.g., 2x256MB DIMMS)?

I also picked one up today at my local Apple Store. 2.0 60gb. I have a 2.0 MacBook Pro as well. This is a sweet machine.

I believe we all just want to know the gaming performance compared to the Mac Mini. Then again, I expect BareFeats to have something up by the end of the week.

I got the white 2Ghz one. I LOVE the new look. Wide screen is hawt.

Now I need to max out the RAM to 2GB - it's too slow with 512MB :( Does it use the exact same ram as the MBPs?

Yes, both the MB and the MBP use 667MHz DDR 2 (PC2-5300).

All of Apple's current Intel models use DDR 2 (PC2-5300) SODIMM's.

BAck!

after some time playing, this thing is way cool.
first off. The Keyboard.. Its all tightly sealed, so its sooo clean. (no bread crums, or little hairs hanging around there). The keys are nice and big & Actually i love this keybord.
The screen feels nice.. no fingerPrints, slight issue with angle & reflections..
(just a little minor complaint)

Now its fully charged, theres no heat! this thing is sitting on my lap right now. a little noise from the fan but dredded WHINE..

its running goodwith standerd out of the box ram, so this thing should rock with more Ram.

Sorry to all the gamers, but i'm not that big of a gamer.. but i dont think this is the best option for you.. Gamers should go for the MBP for a better gamer experiance.

This is my first ever Mac Laptop, and god i'm sooo stoked. This thing is smooth & fast! File sharing between my two intel macs is flawless via blueteeth!

dont think about it, Buy one. KEvin

Ha ha "BlueTeeth" thats great.
That's what they should have called Bluetooth 2.0 :p
You should try using your built-in Wi-Fi instead. It's faster.

You can pair one Apple remote with a particular Apple computer.

See this link for the Apple Knowledge Base article describing how to do so.

:)
I like how they tell you to invade your Mac's personal space. Make sure to turn off the Airport first so it doesn't report you to the authorties

Good news on the lack of heat or whine!

Don't forget to calibrate the battery and report back if the actual battery life lives up to the 3.5 hours.
