So I finally got my macbook, and I must say, I am SO HAPPY I decided to go with mac and not a sony vaio or any other windows machine. It's a beautiful machine and I can't wait to spend more time on it. I want to say thanks to everyone who helped me with the questions that I had, although they were stupid questions, and I thank you. I just had a FEW more questions though, so here we go:

1) My macbook is getting a little hot.....should it be getting this hot?
2) My battery has been dieing really fast, like about 1% every few minutes. Is this normal? I did just turn it on for the first time, so I'm thinking it's normal but I'm not sure.
3) Should I let my battery die after it's first usage then charge it up to 100% with the adapter? I've heard that thats what I should do but I just want to check with you guys.

Thanks for any advice guys.

should have waited till after macworld...but, each to his own i suppose. :p

It is normal for your computer to be hot and short on battery because it needs to index your files just give it a few hours and it will be more stable.

I don't believe there will be a macbook update at MWSF, especially considering they were updated in November.

I actually bet $1300 bucks on it (in other words I ordered my macbook on the 22nd of December, I love it btw!)

Turning off bluetooth (if you're not using it, obviously) will help to keep the battery running longer

On first use, I did calibrate the battery as people have suggested, and haven't had any problems yet

Congrats on the new macbook...its a great machine

Congrats, you are going to LOVE it. I did the major jump from PC to Mac the end of Sept. I had been using PC's from the early DOS days. Have used EVERY version of Windows. I went with a 24" iMac 2.4gh, and bumped the ram to 4gb., 320gb HD, and 320gb External back-up drive.

End of Nov., got a 2.2Gh Black Macbook, and have never been happier. I love the size, speed, also bumped to 4gb Ram, and solid feel of the laptop.

The 2 combined gives me everything I need.

MAC you rock.

Yeah i'm loving it right now. I let the battery go down it it's minimum power and i'm charging it now. Taking a while but oh well.

I've owned my macbook for a while now. And i notice the battery percentage drops quite rapidly but the perecentage is kind of misleading anyways, if you click da battery indicator it will give you the estimated time your battery will continue to power your computer before you need to plug your computer in. Also when you first power on your macbook your bluetooth and Airport cards are automatically switched on, turn them off when you don't need to use it. From my experience, turning off your airport will extend your battery life from half an hour to an hour. And also set the brightness of the screen to the lowest but comfortable setting.

I just purchased the 2.2 macbook white with 2 x 512m for $1,754.00 with student discount. As i received the discount, i purchased some ram externally from ramcity.

http://www.ramcity.com.au/product/KIN1-AMK13I-2G-01.htm

that is the ram link, my first question is if that will work with my brand new macbook?

Also, i purchased the macbook as i urged for a change in the HP brand and the standard pc, i wanted something new rather than microsoft. When i receive my macbook and the programs installed, what are some of the options i have to play around with for 'entertainment' if im just a standard user of the mac. THis might not make sense, but im asking what i can actually do with the mac when i walk into my room and sit at it when im having a **** afternoon?

thanks guys.

Yep those rams will work with your MB, Mr Aussie.

For your personal entertainment (during your w***ing session), I recommend downloading DivX plug-in, VLC Player, MacHacha and stuffit expander. That is, if you're a porn hunter who likes to download large files from Rapidshare etc.
