And it has a small gouge on the top of it. Apple has said that they can't do anything about it; has anyone else fixed an issue like this? Is there a metal applicant I can get to fill it in?

i don't understand why Apple wouldn't fix it. did you take it to an Apple store or talk to someone on the phone? if you can, take it to an Apple store... the people there are very helpful with me (i've gotten more than one item replaced free of charge). if it was the shipping company's fault, file a claim with them. you definitely should not have to fix this problem yourself.

Taking it in for them to look at it. However, I just need to know in case they refuse to repair it.
