Got my mini/keyboard/mouse/monitor today! Question!

Okay I made it to BestBuy today and purchased the:

- Mac mini 2010 (standard config)
- Apple wireless keyboard
- Apple magic mouse
- Acer H233H 23" LCD Monitor

Keeping in mind from my previous post that I am not tech savvy at all.. I have a couple of quick questions. We got home too late tonight to mess with it, and we are tied up much of tomorrow. I am however stopping at a couple of stores tomorrow so I want to make sure I have everything I need for tomorrow night.

1.) Okay, I get home and the first thing I notice is the monitor box has a sticker that proudly displays "Windows 7 compatible". It says nothing about MAC on the box anywhere. Did I mess up or am I good to go? Just wanted to know before I open it tomorrow night.

2.) Somewhere on the net (and I can't recall where) I read something about the mac mini 2010 does work with the apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse, BUT something about neither keyboard or mouse will work for initial setup?? Something about you need a regular USB keyboard and mouse to do initial setup of the mac mini, then you need to do something like *I think* a software update for the magic mouse and the wireless keyboard (or maybe it was to the OS?) before everything will work together?

I would really appreciate if someone could clarify what I need to do with that because I'd hate to get part way in to setting it up and not have what I need. I do have a USB Logitech mouse I used for my PC laptop, but I do not have a keyboard. However if you tell me that's what I need I can purchase a cheap one while I'm out tomorrow during the day.

Please don't leave me hangin' I'm pumped to get this thing going!

1) should be fine to use so long as you can plug it in.

2) Keyboard and mouse used to have that issue on the older Mini's, but my mini works fine from initial boot (and diagnostics) with the wireless keyboard and trackpad

You do not need a USB keyboard to set up the regular Mac Mini, that only applies to the mini server model. To get started, just connect the monitor, monitor power cord, and power cord to the mini. Make sure your monitor, wireless mouse and wireless keyboard are powered on and then push the power button on the mini. When the mini powers up it will automatically sync with the magic mouse and wireless keyboard. You may have to type in a password for the keyboard but the mini set up instructions will provide that for you. Just follow the mini set up instructions and you should be fine. You do not need any additional software for the magic mouse. The software update applies to the magic track board. Good Luck and enjoy!

Yeah the monitor comes with 2 or 3 cables including HDMI which is what I'm going to try to use first since the moinitor has speakers.

Okay guys, I'm up and running!

That went really smooth. I know I'll have questions in the upcoming days, but for now I'm just having a lot of fun. It is different than my PCs for sure, but certainly not in a bad way. All I can say is WOW!!

I *think* it did an update when I first got it going IIRC. I have not had much time to use this yet and I don't know much about what I am doing, but man is it ever a blast! I'm mad at the world for not making me get one sooner!

Damn you Apple. By the way the HDMI does not output sound as well. Only video. You have to use the stereo out to get sound.

Not sure I follow. My HDMI is the only cable other than the power cord hooked to the mac mini straight to my HDMI monitor and the monitor is playing the audio just fine?
