Got my new mac and it Freezes also

Well my new 20 inch iMac has finally arrived and in the space of 2 hours it has frozen twice.

I really love the thing already and am just hoping that the freezing can be sorted out real soon!

Can anyone help me please as this is my first MAC, I cannot work out how to move files from one folder to another. I can copy them and then delete them but that is a bit slow and I really want to move them!

Also my second button on my Mighty mouse is a real pain. I seems only to work in one small spot - anyone else have this issue?

My advice sine you have just received your new machine would be to give AppleCare a call, they will be able to talk you through your problems. If your machine is freezing it would be best to talk with AppleCare so that they can log your problem, should you need to replace your machine in the future. Good luck.

Put all the updates on, as they're supposed to stop crashing. If it still does it, get on to apple care. (Actually, I'd say do an erase and reinstall of osx before calling... it's not really necessary but apple care will probably ask you to do it, so it will save messing around)

I'd agree with that suggestion. I have a new 20" iMac that has not had a freeze ever (it has occasionally had apps stop responding, but not the entire box). I put on every update possible and installed Leopard.

I don't know if you have installed Leopard yet or not. I would do a clean install of Leopard and do NOT upgrade Tiger. Reinstall all supplied software that come with the computer then do all software updates. Reset VRAM a few times, and then let the Mac run for a bit. Let Finder index everything it needs to. The system SHOULD settle in. This has worked for me and I have been running with maybe 1 or 2 freezes in the last 2-3 weeks.

Try it. What have you got to lose?

Just bought a new 24" iMac yesterday at the Apple store. Installed the drop-in 10.5 DVD. Computer was on all night. Wife just called and said last.fm is playing but she can't wake the screen up. New iMac is just sitting there with a blank screen. Hey Apple, way to get me in dutch with the missus!

Me: Well, if it doesn't work I guess I'll have to take it back.
Her: You think??
